It is a milder Friday after some heavy rain we had last night.
Birds are out, and so are the bees.
The city’s bloom had an excellent progression, and you can spot more and more flowers around the city.
I visited Central Park to see the Okame cherry trees on the west side of the great lake (Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir).
It is easy to spot them along Bridge Path.
Here are some of the Okame cherry trees that are in peak bloom.
The heavy rain and the wind caused some of them to lose part of their petals, which created a pretty pink floor. However, most petals are still strong and hanging on the trees.
Within a week, these cherry trees will enter their post-bloom stage.

The Yoshino Cherry
Yoshino Cherry (or Japanese Flowering Cherry) is the one most are looking for with a bit of almond-scented and whitish-pink blossoms, which bloom in spring on magnificent bare branches.
You should expect their peak bloom in the city around the second week of April.
However, 2022 provided the big apple with above-average temperatures, which should speed up things a little and bring an early bloom as soon as April 1. But, of course, it depends on the temperatures of the upcoming days.
