Hudson River Greenway, Manhattan
This pick is not just one spot but a widespread belt of green grass, benches, and piers starting on Pier 25 (N Moore st) all the way through Pier 51 (W 12th st). Even though the busiest times on the weekends you can find your own private spot on the lawn.
With the beautiful view of the Hudson River, lots of trees for shade, and a variety of shops and bars, this is one of the best bets for the best picnic.
Sunset Park, Manhattan
If you are looking for a place with the right mixture of grass, shade, hill and skyline view, this is the right place.
Located near 45 St station with the N-R-W lines, down in Sunset Park neighborhood, you will be away from the tourist crowd with a breathtaking view of Manhattan.

The Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn
Our next pick’s location is close to Sunset Park, and it is a Cemetery.
It might sound wired to some people to have a peaceful picnic while surrounded by graves. Well, not this one. This historic landmark became a place which respects the people who passed away and celebrates the living. Spring, summer, or Fall is always a great time for a visit.
Hunter’s Point South (LIC), Queens
If you’re looking for a more central place with a breathtaking skyline view, LIC has a suitable park.
This relatively new park on the edge of LIC has the best view in the city.
You can choose to sit on the grass or use one of the park’s picnic tables.
Governors Island, NY
Governors Island is a former US base that became a park open to the public. Although you should plan your visit ahead due to the ferry dependency, you will have many spots to have the best picnic once you get on the island. Some of them provide a stunning view of manhattan’s skyline.
New York Botanical Garden, Bronx
New York Botanical Garden are a beautiful place to be all year round. But thanks to its gigantic size, there are so many spots you can just sit down and relax, enjoy the pretty scenery and have the chicest picnic.
With pay as you wish on Wednesdays, for New York residents, this is just a matter of time, really.
